Is It Time For A Brake Check-Up

AMJ Auto Repair • August 15, 2022

The brakes in your vehicle are its most important safety system and must be maintained and safe at all times. This is one of the first things everyone should learn when they are learning to drive a car, along with how often to get the oil changed. But the brakes are all that stand between you and disaster, so how do you know when it is time to have them inspected or repaired? Our brake experts will take you through what you need to know.

How Long Has It Been?

When was the last time you had your brakes inspected? If it’s been more than a year, or worse, you can’t remember when your brakes were last checked out, it is past time to have a routine brake inspection. During this inspection, our techs will inspect every inch of your braking system, looking for possible problem areas and weaknesses. If we find problems, or areas that can become problems, we will discuss them with you before we ever pick up a wrench. If it has been too long since your last brake check, get your car to our bays today!

Grinding, Squealing, or Squeaking

If your brakes are making noises when you attempt to stop your vehicle, you’ve got a problem on your hands. Noises such as grinding, squeaking, or squealing are your brake’s way of letting you know your brake pads or shoes are failing. Neglecting worn brake pads is the best way to ensure you are going to have to deal with expensive brake repairs in the future, so if you hear noise when you stop, get your brakes checked and save yourself headaches in the future.
