Ways to Keep Your Car Organized

AMJ Auto Repair • July 15, 2022

Though it is important to keep the exterior of your car clean and ready for the public to admire, it is just as important to keep the interior in great condition. The inside of your car also needs maintenance because you never know when you’ll be driving a passenger or two. Messy interiors can lead to clutter and less space and the more space you have the better, especially when you have kids. Here are some affordable ways to organize your car and make it as spacious as possible.

Use a Shoe Organizer to Store Items

You may have many items that you always want to keep on deck, whether it’s tissues, extra water bottles, or even movies to entertain your kids- a shoe organizer will make it easier to store these items and also keep them within reach. They are easy to hang so putting them behind your front or back seats is perfect for extra storage.

Keep a Plastic File Folder in the Car

There are so many important documents that we keep in the car whether they are auto-related or not, keep them in a file folder so they can stay organized and the documents are not in danger of wrinkling or getting lost. This creates a safe space for your auto insurance, registration, receipts, etc. in an easy-to-access spot.

Don’t Forget About Your Trunk

Yes, there are many trunk organizers that you can purchase online to help maintain your trunk but if you want something quick and easy use a laundry basket. It is big enough for any beach towels, sunscreen, tools and emergency supplies that you may need. It is also perfect to store an extra outfit you might need in the future for a last-minute plan.

A Place for Trash

Having a place for trash is especially important for family-sized vehicles. It is so easy to quickly gather receipts, candy wrappers, empty paper cups or fast food bags in your car and it is better to have a spot to store them than to let them pile up somewhere. A plastic cereal dispenser is a perfect size to throw trash away in and it seals in any odors- just make sure to line it with a plastic bag.

Keep the Glove Box Organized too

It is so easy to have a cluttered glove box. Using an old cosmetics bag, index card file or a coupon organizer are great options to store things like napkins, coupons and tissues. And if you have a lot of change you can put it in an old plastic gum container for whenever you need it.
